Manual for the 737NG Panel

(Based on Andy Karlstetter's original manual, re-written by Björn Kesten)



Introduction (quoted from Andy's original manual):

„This is my 6th attempt to design a good 737-NG panel for FS, and now, I think it's quite good (hope you think so, too). [...] For this panel I started programing gauges. I haven’t done this before but the new XML format of the gauges made it possible for me to access the gauges and write them. A lot of the XML files in the gauges folder were especially designed for this panel. I already had designed all the necessary gauges of the three displays (pfd, nd, eicas) when I found Chris Reed’s 737-700 with perfect gauges which were public domain and in *.xml which made them perfect for this panel . So I threw out my old gauges and inserted his gauges set instead.”

Working switches on the overhead panel:




Notes:

The badly blending switch right to the (non-working) wing light toggles the panel lights.

The switch labeled „Emer Exit Lights“ actually is the master avionics switch.



2.1: The EFIS

Note: The EFIS in the VC works the exact same way.




Red: Does not work in FS9.

Green: Change the display options of the RDMI in the Center MFD (VOR 1/ Off / ADF 1)

White: Change the display options of the RDMI in the Center MFD (VOR2 / Off / Inop)

Blue: Change the display options of the Nav Display from (Approach / VOR DME / GPS Window)

Yellow: Arc/Rose toggle switch of the Nav Display.

Magenta: Increase/Decrease barometric pressure.

1: Course selector (the selector knob does not work; change the value via the display)

Further Notes:

Information on how to operate the pushback panel and TCAS has to be obtained from the documents included in their gauge packages.



Known Issues:

On the 2D panel:

On the overhead a black square appears next to the standby power elements when the yaw damper is disengaged.

In the VC:

- The caution lights are mirrored on the First Officer's side. This is a gauge issue and can not be fixed easily.

If you feel disturbed by them, uncomment (via a "!" or a "//") this line in the [VCockpit02] Section of the panel.cfg:

"gauge18=ndk700_737.Caution, 413,23,53,22"

- If the yaw damper is disengaged,a warning light on the caution lights panel will light up. I don't know whether this

is perfectly normal for a 737NG or an issue with the panel (I didn't make it). The only thing I know is that it

doesn't disturb flight operations in any way. Just enable the yaw damper to make it go out.
